Hello perfectly flawless matte skin. I have been looking for you since puberty hit and I became a shiny blotchy spotty twelve year old. Granted if I had found you when I was twelve, I still won't have been able to wear you since makeup is banned in most public South African schools.
I had a moment last month, where I really needed something to make my skin look less shiny but also less grey. Is it possible to be dry and oily skin? My gran uses Estee Lauder and she has some of the most amazing skin, I am aware of the fact genetics plays a role, my mom has beautiful skin as well. The thing is my skin isn't quite like theirs but at the same time looks pretty good compared to other friends my age.
Now whilst I can't afford Estee Lauder and it seems to be fore a more mature skin than mine. That said I know they bought out a younger geared range of makeup out recently. I also know that clinique is their baby sister company. So I went to the clinique counter at Cresta, the woman working the booth there was amazing, she helped me sort out a skin care routine and I am starting to see a difference. Will do a proper post on my skin care routine soon. I remembered having a conversation with one of my best friends' Clara on makeup and skin care, she also uses clinique and we have very different skins. I was telling her how I watched a Pixiwoo video on makeup maybe working better if you use the same brand makeup as your skincare. So I bit the bullet and got myself a foundation.
Wow that is a long intro for one product, if you are still reading yay. I got the beyond perfecting 2 in 1 foundation so it is foundation and a concealer. It blends out beautifully with a damp beauty blender or a buffing brush. I love my real techniques one, I am curious about using a kabuki brush and a stippling brush for the days when I want a very soft focus. I have used it as a foundation, as both a foundation and a concealer or just a concealer, it works beautifully. I have pretty dark genetic dark circles, family of iron deficient people.
It is a medium to heavy coverage, more towards the heavy but if you use a damp beauty blender or just a really light hand it can be a more light medium coverage. It has a huge concealer doupher applicator which was a little weird at first but I dot a bit over my face where I want the product the most and blend. It dries down fairly quickly so either you need to work super fast or do half a side of your face at a time. This stuff doesn't budge once it is dry at all, like you are still very much full makeup face by the time you get home after work. It is super matte though so I would not recommend this to someone with a dry skin.
I tend to get shiny by 12 in the day, with this there is no shine at 9 at night. So lots of moisturiser is a must if you aren't on the oiler side or even if you are. I don't wear this when I am not at work because I am a no makeup type of girl when I am home. I do however blend some of this under my eyes and on my super shiny spots like chin and forehead over a bb cream if I know we are going to see people the weekend and I want to look nice.
Would I buy this again?
yes in a heart beat
